The altar server plays a vital role in the preparations and procedures before, during and after Mass. The server willingly and reverently assists the priest during various parts of the Mass.
Duties for this ministry:
Attend an annual Altar Server Appreciation/Update Dinner at St. Patrick Church
Reverently assist the pastor or visiting priest before, during and after Mass
Arrive punctually for scheduled Mass time
Respectfully assist in the training of new altar servers before, during and after Mass
Assist with any last minute preparations in the sacristy and in the sanctuary before Mass begins
Be an example to other parishioners through the conduct of your ministry
Communicate to either another altar server or your ministry leader if you are not able to attend your scheduled time.
Skills, abilities, and gifts desired to serve in this ministry:
Altar servers may be either female or male
Altar servers may be of any age, yet must have received the sacrament of First Eucharist
Altar servers must be in good standing with the Catholic Church
Altar servers must be committed to prayer, regardless of age level.
