The main purpose of this ministry is to visit and pray with, as well as distribute Holy Eucharist to, all Catholic patients at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan.
Duties for this ministry:
It is preferred that the Eucharistic Minister attend Mass the morning they intend to go to the hospital so they can receive the Eucharist at that Mass.
St. Patrick’s parish distributes Holy Eucharist on Thursdays during the morning hours after Mass.
Eucharist Ministers should report to the ministry leader or the pastor anyone who requests to see a Priest for Confession or Sacramental Anointing.
Eucharistic Ministers should, with the patient’s permission, report to the pastor of St. Patrick Parish any parishioners who may in the hospital as a patient.
All Eucharistic Ministers must obey all of the laws and requirements of Munson Medical Center and wear a name tag at all times while visiting in that capacity.
Skills, abilities, and gifts desired to serve in this ministry:
To be a person who has a personal prayer life, and a concern for your fellow parishioners.
To feel comfortable praying with others and for others in a public setting.
One must truly believe in their heart, that they are distributing the Body of Christ, not a nice symbol, but the true Body of Our Lord.
One must dress appropriately to visit the hospital and represent the Church and the parish.
One must commit to the time and training required to do hospital ministry.
You must be a baptized and confirmed Catholic Adult who has been trained for this ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers are required to attend a re-training meeting once a year in parish and have attended a training meeting offered by the Diocese of Gaylord.
Eucharistic Ministers go to Munson Medical Center only on Thursdays.
