To visit and pray with, as well as distribute the Body of Christ to, those Catholic Christians who, for one reason or another, find themselves in a nursing home, assisted living home or foster care home in the Grand Traverse Area.
Duties for this ministry:
It is preferred that the Eucharistic Minister attend Mass the morning of the day they intend to go to visit the nursing home and receive the Eucharist at that Mass.
St. Patrick Parish takes care of the spiritual needs of individuals in eleven nursing/assisted living homes in the Grand Traverse Area on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week -- approximately four homes per day, one half hour at each home service.
The pastor should make an effort to say Mass at the major nursing homes at least twice a year and anoint all Catholic residents at that time.
Skills, abilities, and gifts desired to serve in this ministry:
One must be a baptized/confirmed Catholic and have a true love of people, all people, the elderly, crippled and mentally challenged.
The Eucharistic Minister must feel comfortable praying in public with residents of these homes and have a personal prayer life.
The Eucharist Minister must truly believe in their heart, that they are offering to the residents/distributing the Body of Christ.
One must be able to give their time at the arranged day and hour at each home and not go at their convenience.
One must dress appropriately to visit the home and represent the Church.

Eucharistic Ministers should go to one of the eleven nursing homes on the day and at the time arranged with that home, unless alternate arrangements have been made ahead of time with administration personnel of that home.
