Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is a program where the Most Blessed Sacrament, our beloved Lord Jesus Christ, is placed in a Monstrance and adored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year long, for all of the Traverse City area and its five Catholic Churches. All are welcome at the Chapel - both Catholics and Non-Catholics alike!
Except for stopping for the Sunday 9AM & 11AM Mass's, cleaning of the chapel, Chrismas Eve, Christmas Day and the Easter Triduum, adoration of the Eucharist at St. Francis Chapel is continuous. Unscheduled stoppage, such as for bad weather, happens occasionally.
One person must be in attendance before our beloved Lord at all times when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the Monstrance, however, two people are the Church norm for adoration of this type. To accomplish this two people are recruited for each hour of the whole week thru various means. Each person volunteers to adore our beloved Lord at a specific hour once a week, each week, for a certain number of months (or years) that they determine. Their weekly commitment to this lasts as long or as short as they want. It is hoped, however, that the commitment will be for a sufficient length of time to help keep this program going. Many adorers choose to make a lengthy commitment (many months and years) because of their love for our Lord and because the setup of our program makes it easy to get a substitute. Each adorer is backed up by an "Hour Coordinator" who is part of the P.E.A. (Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration) Program Management Team.
